Happy Birthday Chopin!

One of Poland's native sons, the great composer Frederic Chopin's birthday was 200 years ago this month. Records point to either February 22 or March 1 as Chopin's birthday. Chopin's certificate of baptism indicates February 22, 1810, as his birthday, but Chopin himself and his family always mentioned March 1 as his actual birthdate.

Either way, his unforgettable music is a legacy to all of Poland and Polish Americans.

Throughout the world, Chopin's 200th birthday is being celebrated with concerts and tributes to his great musical works.
